Jean "Genevieve" Zweifel, age 95 of Monroe, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Jean was born February 19, 1915 in Waupaca, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Lucy (Anderson) Doerfler. She graduated from Waupaca High School and attended business college in Milwaukee. She married Melvin R. Zweifel on November 4, 1947 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in October 1968. Jean and Melvin farmed in Sylvester Township and Rock County before moving to Madison in 1965. Jean enjoyed working as a waitress at Manchesters and the Park Motor Inn for several years. She returned home to Waupaca in 1980 and came to Monroe to be near her son in 1990.

She is survived by three children, Ronald (Mary Lou) Zweifel of Monroe, twin daughters, Pamela (Edward) Scholten of Fort Collins, CO, and Patricia Bice of North St. Paul, MN; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Timothy, Andrew, Michael, and Stephen Scholten, Nathan Bice, Janell (Michael) Bender, Vickie O'Connor and Rick O'Connor; a great-grandson, Ronald Franklin; and a nephew, Jerome (Shirley) Maney of Tomahawk, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, John Doerfler; and two sisters, Gretha Doerfler and Maurine (Roy) Behling.

Our dear Mom was a very good, loving, and supportive mom. We always had great talks with her. She was a great listener. She taught us to be self-reliant and encouraged us to get a good education. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Inurnment will be at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona, WI.
