Janette M. Rodger age 93 of Monroe, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Graceland Manor, Monroe. Janette was born September 21, 1919 in Platteville, WI, the daughter of Rev. Albert E. and Winifred E. (Stephens) Weittenhiller. She graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1937 and earned a teaching certificate from Platteville State University in 1941. Janette married Lyle A. Rodger on June 2, 1945 at the Monroe United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death in 1988. She lived in Blanchardville and Monticello before moving to Monroe. Janette taught first grade mainly in New Glarus and East School in Monroe for 37 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, and was an active member of the Red Hatters and Retired Educator of Green County. She and Lyle loved to travel, especially enjoying their trips to California. Janette is survived by various relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013, at 4:30 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Graveside services will be on Saturday, August 10, at 11:00 a.m., in Davis Corners Cemetery, rural Wisconsin Dells. A memorial fund will be established in Janette's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is handling the arrangements.
