Inez Heinzelman, 101, of Monroe, WI. passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2017 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on August 23, 1915 in a farm house outside Brodhead, WI to parents Frank and Emma (Alf) Schultz. She graduated from Brodhead High School and University WI Platteville with a degree in elementary education. She taught for 16 years in rural schools in Rock and Green counties and taught 22 years in the Monroe School System where she was a 1st grade teacher and later a teaching principal for 12 years at East School. Inez was the first president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Monroe.
Inez married Willis E. Mitchell, on August 29, 1938 in Dubuque, IA. They had two daughters, Carol (Carla) Jean Pederson and Jane Ann Boll-Gibbons. Willis died in 1968 and Inez later married Herman Heinzelman in March of 1970. Herman passed away in 2014.
Inez is survived by her daughters Carla Pederson and Jane Boll-Gibbons (Jeff), 3 stepdaughters: Cherrie Woodley, Jackie Roan, and June Rood (Larry), three grandchildren: Tracey Pederson (Kathy Greb), Brad Boll (Valerie) and Greg Boll (Kirsten), numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Noon at the United Methodist Church in Monroe with Randy Booth officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10am to time of service. Shriner Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home will be assisting with arrangements. A memorial has been established in her name.
