Emil O. "Bud" Goecks, age 85 of Juda, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

Bud was born on March 24, 1926 in Spring Grove Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the son of Otto E. and Martha (Jordan) Goecks. He attended Bright Rural School and married Doris M. Wunschel on November 20, 1944 at the Union United Methodist Church in Oakley.

He farmed all of his life in Spring Grove Township before retiring and moving to Juda in 1980.

Following his retirement, Bud worked at the Jefferson Township Recycling Center for many years.

He was a member of the Union UMC in Oakley and in his younger years he enjoyed playing and managing fastpitch softball.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Goecks of Monroe;

two sons, Denny (Kathy) Goecks, Steve (Robyn) Goecks; a daughter-in-law, Joann Goecks, all of rural Juda; six grandchildren, Mike (Tammy) Goecks, Susan (Kim) Trotter, Chad Goecks, Brad Goecks, Jessica (Ryan) Cahill, Jamie (Josh) Riese;and several great-grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Goecks in 1967; a son, Gary Goecks in 2008; a brother, Bill Goecks; and three sisters, Florence Ladwig, Rose Clark, and Margaret Klopfenstein.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Interment will be in Union Church Cemetery in Oakley followed by a luncheon at the Juda Community Center.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Bud's name for the Juda Class of 1967 Nine Angels Scholarship Fund.
