FREEPORT - Edwin A Rudy, Sr., 75, was promoted to glory Thursday, October 16, 2008 at his home.

Born July 24, 1933 in Orangeville he was the son of Claude and Pearl (Miller) Rudy. On February 9, 1957 he married LaVella B. Hoffman in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

In his early life Edwin delivered coal and was a farm hand. He worked as a pipe fitter, first class, in the U.S. Navy, then at Burgess Battery, and then Kelly Springfield Tire Company until his retirement

A Korean Conflict veteran, his memberships included: The Salvation Army Corps, the VFW, and the Korean War Veterans. He was a volunteer driver for AM Vets.

Surviving are his wife, LaVella of Freeport; 1 son, Edwin (Rose) Rudy Jr. of Freeport; 1 daughter, Jayme (Ron) Wubben of Chicago; 5 grandchildren, Eddie and Michelle Rudy, Kali, Bailey and Kyra Wubben; aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Starene; his infant granddaughter, Veronika Wubben; and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be Sunday 5 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary and Monday 9:30 a.m. until time of service at The Salvation Army Corps.

Funeral services will be Monday 10:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Corps. with Majors Mickey and Char Hale officiating.

Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for The Salvation Army Corps.
