Delbert R. "Mouse" Meier, age 87, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 25, 1930, the son of William and Alma (Hale) Meier.
Delbert served in the U.S. Navy from January, 1950 to November, 1954. He was a long-standing member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
He was employed at Swiss Colony, Dorman Cheese, Alphorn Ford, Color Putty and SK Plastics.
Family was Important to Delbert and he spent a lot of time with his siblings playing cards. His grandchildren were also a big part of his life where he was involved with their activities and loved spending time with them. He followed NASCAR and loved sports especially basketball
He is survived by his children: Bruce (Judy) Meier, Sheri (Toney) Priewe, Brian (Amy) Meier, all of Monroe; sisters, Joan (Kenneth) Chapin of Monroe, Judy Matley of Oconomowoc, WI; Linda (James) Matley of Monroe, Nancy (Gary) Broege of Oconomowoc; brothers, Richard (Renee) Meier, David (Peggy) Meier, both of Monroe; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Arlene Simmons, and brothers, Donald Meier and Robert Sweeney; brothers-in-law, Jack Simmons and David Matley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Kathleen Rinear officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Rites accorded. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
A memorial fund is being established in Delbert's memory.
