MISDEMEANORS

• Jason L. Svendsen, 33, Monroe, was sentenced to two years of probation Tuesday after he pleaded no contest to two counts of misdemeanor theft. As part of a plea agreement prosecutors reached with Svendsen and his attorney, two counts of felony burglary and one count of misdemeanor theft were dismissed. According to court records, his probation terms are to be served concurrently with any sentences Svendsen is serving for convictions in Dane County. He must complete the Rock County Education and Criminal Addictions Program (RECAP) during probation or he will face a six-month jail term. He must also pay court costs and restitution. Police records indicate he owes the court $4,456. According to police documents, in October 2013 Svendsen stole a hay baler valued at more than $2,500 from a farm in the N4100 block of Benkert Road in Monroe. Behr Salvage of Green County contacted the machine's owner, who called police. An employee of the salvage yard told police Svendsen sold the baler for $309.70. When police were attempting to locate Svendsen, they spoke with his mom, who told them her son "probably has a severe drug problem."

MISDEMEANORS

• A warrant was issued for the arrest of Wesley J. Schaefer, 23, Cuba City, after he failed to make his initial appearance in Lafayette County Circuit Court Monday. Schaefer faces a misdemeanor count of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct for allegedly shoving a woman he knows against a door and threatening her April 23. The woman told police Schaefer became upset when he woke up and she wasn't in his bed. He yelled and swore at her, she told investigators, and later grabbed her shirt, pressed his fist against her cheek and verbally threatened to hit her. After telling police she and the man both had been drinking prior to the incident, she was cited for underage drinking. Schaefer was arrested and taken to jail.
