MISDEMEANORS

• Rigoberto Garcia-Arcos, 31, Darlington, was charged July 8 with fourth-degree sexual assault and battery for allegedly having nonconsensual sexual contact with a woman he works with and biting her May 19 in a ditch near the 9900 block of H&G road in the Town of Darlington. According to the criminal complaint, the woman

wasn't feeling well and Garcia-Arcos drove her to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington but didn't stop his vehicle when they got there. Garcia-Arcos reportedly drove around the outskirts of Darlington before pulling off the road, stopping the vehicle and forcing himself on the woman. He allegedly tried to kiss her and touch her inappropriately and bit her cheek and leg, causing bruising. Court records indicate she repeatedly told him to take her home and he eventually complied. He told investigators the contact was consensual and admitted to biting her leg, police documents show. He has an initial appearance July 23.

• Michael E. Walker, 21, Gratiot, was charged July 8 with battery and criminal damage to property for allegedly punching a man he knows and damaging a door May 20 at a residence in the 25500 block of Penny Benton Road in the Town of New Diggings. Police noted in their report that when they arrived at the residence, the man had a swollen eye and blood on his head and upper body. He said Walker repeatedly tried to fight him but he refused to engage, according to court records, and instead tried to lock Walker in the garage. Walker reportedly broke through the door and punched the man in the eye. The man was transported to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. Walker admitted to investigators that he punched the man, but said it was in self-defense, police documents indicate. The man reportedly told officers both he and Walker had been drinking. They both had blood-alcohol concentrations of 0.15 percent. Walker was transported to the hospital for a medical clearance and then booked into jail. He has an initial appearance June 20.
