Green County

Felonies

• Eric M. Harlson, 23, Freeport, had a signature bond set at $3,000 on Monday, with additional conditions that he have no contact with his previous employer, Walmart. Harlson was charged with two counts of felony theft and two counts of bail jumping between August and September 2012. Court records indicate that while Harlson was employed at Walmart in Monroe he allowed for several people to go through his checkout lane without paying for some items. Harlson would ring up the items and then void them out on the computer, printing out fraudulent receipts. Harlson allowed a woman and two men to pass through with a number of items including: Oxiclean stain remover, a car charger, numerous DVDs, multiple bottles of liquor, groceries, video games, a car stereo, at least three laptops and much more. The items were valued at about $5,500. Harlson has a preliminary hearing set for May 13.



Misdemeanors

On Monday:

• Darrin J. Peterson, 42, Brodhead, has a signature bond set at $500 with additional conditions that he not drink or have abusive contact with the alleged victim. Peterson was charged with domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct on March 26. Court records allege he yelled and swore at a woman and threw a suitcase at her legs, leaving no injury. The victim told the responding officer, Peterson had been acting "crazy," for the past couple of days and had been mentally abusive to her. Peterson has a pre-trial conference set for May 27.

• Chad Lee Phillipps, 31, Evansville, had a signature bond set at $1,500 with additional conditions that he not drink or enter bars or liquor stores. Phillipps was charged with drunk driving and driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration, both fourth offenses, on March 26. Court records indicate Philipps was stopped by police on 23rd Street in Brodhead for failing to stop at a stop sign and then failing a field sobriety test. Phillips has a pre-trial conference set for May 20.



Lafayette County Misdemeanors

• Karina Orizaba, 20, Darlington, had a signature bond set at $1,500 on Monday, for three counts of neglecting a child, all Class A misdemeanors. Orizaba was charged with neglect on Nov. 18. If convicted for the maximum penalty, Orizaba could face up to 27 months imprisonment or $30,000 in fines or both. She has an adjourned initial appearance set for April 28.
