New Glarus - Charlotte Rae Brauer, 87, of Belleville, formerly of New Glarus, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017. She was born on March 13, 1930 to Charles J. and Susan (Schneider) Hoesly.

Charlotte graduated from New Glarus High School in 1948. On February 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Elden O. Brauer at Swiss Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Glarus. She worked in several New Glarus restaurants, including the A & W Root Beer stand, Swiss Lanes and the Town Edge. In 1975, she started working for the Green County Sheriff's Department in the kitchen. After 20 years of service with the county, she retired in 1995. In her retirement, she enjoyed helping with funeral luncheons at Swiss UCC.

Charlotte enjoyed gardening, visits from family near and far, and solving crossword puzzles.

She was a life-long member of Swiss United Church of Christ.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Devin, sister Bernice and niece Irene.

Charlotte is survived by her children: Bill (Linda) Brauer of Euless, TX, Susan Brauer of Cross Plains, Kent (Nancy) Brauer of Dayton and Jane (Maynard) Wahl of New Glarus. Grandchildren Heather (Eric) Emberson, Jonathan "Buck" (Nicole) Brauer, Gina (Jason) Tank, Dane (Lauren Berkholtz) Wojciehowski, Robert Brauer and 7 great-grandchildren: Harley, Holly and Catrina Emberson, Mason Fuerst, Piper Hefty, Aubrey and Landen Tank. She is further survived by her brother Chuck Hoesly, who was more of a son to her than a brother, and a special friend Mae Beckwith.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 pm at Zentner- Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave. New Glarus. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 4, at Swiss United Church of Christ with Rev. Kimberly Moeller officiating. A burial will follow at Swiss Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her five grandchildren along with her nephew, Bret Hoesly.
