Beverley Eileen Peterson, age 71 of Wiota, WI, passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends on June 6th, 2008. Beverley was born August 11, 1936 in Wiota Township to George and Wanda (Scott) Atter. She attended Reed Grade School in the Lamont township and graduated from Argyle High School in 1954. After graduation, she went to work for American Family Insurance in Madison. Beverley was married to Glen Edgerton, to Paul Jones for 9 years, and was married to LeRoy Peterson for 24 years. The majority of her life was spent living in the Wiota-Darlington area. She worked for Lands' End of Dodgeville for 16 years until her retirement in 2002. She started a job she loved, as a driver escort, for Lafayette County helping people to their appointments.
Beverley is survived by her children: Darla (Veronica Irish) Rogers of Lancaster, Jan Moreno of Mazomanie, Scott (MaryJo) Edgerton of Darlington, Jeff (Julie) Edgerton of Monroe, Donna (Pat) Bainbridge of Verona, MaryJo (Gordy Starr) Edgerton of Dodgeville; her stepchildren: Brian (Deb) Peterson of Oregon, Carmen (Todd) Meier of Argyle, Kevin (Tammy) Peterson of Dubuque; her grandchildren: Julie Bastian of Lancaster, Kristi (fiancé Dan Meisen of Belmont) Bastian of Lancaster, Casey (fiancé Phil Seely) Edgerton of Madison, Sonia and John Edgerton of Mazomanie, Jessica McCarville of Darlington, Paul (fiancée Samantha Gross) Edgerton of Darlington, Joseph LePore (Edgerton) of Monroe, Janelle Edgerton of Juda, Carson and Chandler Bainbridge of Verona, Ashley O'Neill of Milwaukee, Amanda O'Neill of Dodgeville; step-grandchildren: Shane Peterson and Megan Peterson of Oregon, Nicole Schneider of Spring Green, Nathaniel Schneider of Milwaukee, Kaylynne Meier of Argyle; great-grandchildren: Dakota, Braedyn and Bryce Bastian of Lancaster, Brianna Seely of Madison, Alana and Hunter McCarville of Darlington, and Trevor, McKenzie, Carlee, and Trinity Rodenbaugh of Spring Green; a sister: Karen (David) Pape of Mazomanie; and a brother: Gary Atter of Madison; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, LeRoy Peterson in 2006.
Beverley enjoyed traveling, auctions and collectibles, playing cards and games. She was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church and was active in many roles in her church. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted mother who worked with her strengths and helped her children, in becoming a "hero" in their eyes. Beverley will be remembered for her helpfulness, peanut bars, lefse and pot roast dinners.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Wiota Lutheran Church with Rev. Sara Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church. Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
