Barbara McQuillen, age 94 of Darlington, WI, formerly of Gratiot, WI, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born August 20, 1914 in Gratiot Township, Lafayette County, to VL "Wally" and Anna (Spinhirne) Ganshert. Barbara graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School in Dubuque, IA in 1932. She was united in marriage to J. Vernon McQuillen on January 23, 1937 in Gratiot, WI. Barbara lived in Gratiot until 1947 before moving around the Wisconsin area until 1957, when she moved to Oshkosh, WI. She worked as a seamstress for fourteen years in Oshkosh retiring in 1976. After twenty years in Oshkosh she moved to Monroe, WI in 1977 and later to Argyle, WI in 1997.

Barbara is survived by one daughter: Anna (Robert) Keough of Argyle, WI; three sons: Robert (Mary Jean) McQuillen of Eagle River, WI, Patrick (Pacita) McQuillen of Davison, MI, and Peter (Ann) McQuillen of Somerset, CA; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: on April 23, 1995; two brothers: Lawrence and Leo Ganshert; and two sisters: Aletha Williams and Margaret Kloss.

Barbara enjoyed knitting and sewing, she knitted many caps and booties for the new born babies at St. Clare Hospital with the St. Clare Ladies Auxiliary. She made quilts for her entire family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 29, 2009 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5685 Main Street in Gratiot with Rev. David Wanish officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Gratiot. A visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
