Avis M. Crichton Shedd, age 90, Elgin, IL former many year resident of Orangeville, WI passed away on Saturday evening at the Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Avis was born in rural Carpentersville on May 17, 1923, the daughter of the late John and Ella (nee Baresel) Crichton. She was a 1941 graduate of Dundee Community High School. Most of Avis's professional career was spent in food service. She retired from the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, Wisconsin after 30 years of service, retiring as the facility's Food Service Manager. While in Wisconsin, Avis was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church in Orangeville, WI. Survivors include her son: Randy G. (Diane) Shedd, her granddaughters: Kim (Burt) Lynn and Noelle (Troy) Hause. Other survivors include her great-grandchildren: Nathan (Jodi) Smith, Chris

(Cristin) Smith, her great-great-grandchildren: Dominic, Jaxon, Preston and Alina Smith, Ian, Teran, and Maris Hause. Her nephews: Tim (Leslie) Crichton and Dann (Linda) Chapman. Her niece, Glenna ( Joe) Godinsky, her grand nieces and nephews: Ian and Andrew Crichton, Justin and Stefan Chapman, Matt, Cam and Amber Godinsky. In addition to her parents, Avis was preceded in death by her brothers: Shel (Lib) and Bud (Eillene) Crichton, and her sisters: Betty (Paul) Chapman and Ethel Crichton. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army 316 Douglas Avenue Elgin, IL 60120.
