MONROE - Final deadlines for filing motions and jury instructions have been set in the case of a Monroe man, accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting a teen, whom he later adopted.

James M. Norquay, 49, did not appeared in court Monday. But his attorney Eric Schulenburg, along with Assistant Attorney General Dennis Krueger, who is prosecuting the case for Green County, appeared before Green County Circuit Judge Thomas Vale, via telephone.

A motion deadline was set to review the case prior to trial, scheduled to begin Nov. 14. Any motions filed by the attorneys are due prior to the review hearing, set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 20, when Vale plans to review them.

"I want to focus on those potential issues raised," Vale said.

The attorneys face an Oct. 17 deadline to file jury instructions.

In July, the attorneys agreed to a potential, 70-juror pool for trial and established a timeline for questionnaires to be completed. Those will be used to evaluate the jury's eligibility.

Finalists for the jury pool are set to be summoned on Oct. 4. Norquay, a former state patrol officer, is charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child, a class C felony; three counts of sexual assault of a child by a foster parent or treatment foster parent, a class C Felony; and two counts of incest with a child, a class C felony.
