MONROE — A GoFundMe campaign is raising money for the final expenses of a Blanchardville man who apparently died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash last week after being flown to the hospital by Med Flight.

According to police reports, the crash happened just after 1:05 p.m. on Aug. 2 in the W8700 block of Wis. 39, in the town of York not far from New Glarus. Authorities said they determined that the rider, Chad A. Schneider, 50 of Blanchardville, was traveling eastbound on Wis. 39, when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone.

Reports added that he “was unable to negotiate the curve in the roadway after passing the vehicle and entered the ditch.” As a result, Schneider was ejected from the motorcycle and reportedly was not wearing a helmet.

According to a fundraising page posted by a family friend, Schneider does not have many family members in the area to help. “Unfortunately, his injuries to his head caused too large of brain swelling, ultimately leading to him being on life support,” said the post by family friend Hayley Larson.

“It’s very sad, we were notified Sunday night,” said Sheriff Jeff Skatrud the next day, on Aug. 8.

The fundraiser post adds that Schneider has a daughter, and that he will be taken off of life support following an organ-donation procedure.
