MONROE - A Hollandale man charged with having sex with an underage Belleville girl appeared in Green County Circuit Court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

Matthew Christen, 24, faces two Class C felony counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one Class D felony count of child enticement.

At his appearance, Christen waived his right to the preliminary hearing and was granted an alteration to his $5,000 signature bond. The alteration grants Christen limited permission to travel to his place of employment and his church in Belleville.

Christen's bond still prohibits all unsupervised contact with non-family members under the age of 18.

Christen was charged after an unrelated Department of Justice investigation revealed a series of sexually explicit conversations between Christen and the girl took place in October 2014. The victim later claimed Christen had sexual contact with her Oct. 17 and Nov. 6.

Christen will next appear in court May 5 for an arraignment.
