What are the top issues facing this board/council and how would you resolve them?

Albany is a very good school district with a lot to offer its students. Open enrollment is a challenge. I know of some families who have open enrolled, but have not even visited the school to see what Albany has to offer. Albany is a small school with small class sizes and a tremendous staff. Our teachers and paraprofessionals ensure each child can succeed to the best of his/her abilities.

Being a small school district, budgetary issues are always forefront. Trying to allocate funds appropriately can be a challenge within the current budget constraints. I have a firm understanding of providing quality education within tight budgets. In addition, ensuring you are keeping up with today's technology is also difficult when you do not have funds. There are many learning opportunities for our youth today. One of my goals is to ensure the Albany school district has some of the latest technologies for our students. I have made several changes with respect to information technology to make the school district more efficient and, at the same time, less expensive than current costs. Getting updated technology in our school is a top priority for me.
