DODGEVILLE — Agrace has hired Stephany Marten of Dodgeville as its new development specialist serving Iowa, Grant, Lafayette, Richland and Green counties. Agrace is a nonprofit, community-supported health care organization providing hospice care, supportive care, adult day services, senior care and grief support to people who are aging, seriously ill, dying or grieving in southern Wisconsin.
As development specialist, Marten coordinates regional fundraising efforts to help meet the current and future needs of Agrace. She is the main contact for area donors to help realize the impact their gifts can make in the community. Local workplaces, civic clubs, faith groups and senior living communities can contact Marten to learn more about Agrace’s services. She is also coordinating BANDing Together for Agrace — a live benefit concert benefit at Harris Park, Dodgeville, which is taking place September 17.
As a nonprofit, Agrace relies on community support to fulfill its mission of providing personalized care and support for life’s changing health needs. While Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances covers the cost of hospice and palliative care services for most patients, some do not have coverage for the care they need. Gifts to Agrace help fund its Care for All (charity care) program so Agrace does not turn any eligible patient away regardless of their ability to pay.
Before coming to Agrace, Marten served as student services coordinator with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and as director of operations for Capitol Physical Therapy. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in health care from Edgewood College, Madison, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She is member of the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce and is involved with many local organizations and activities.
“I feel fortunate to use my knowledge and skills to embrace and support the community and individuals who helped shape me to be my best self,” said Marten. “I will never take that for granted and look forward to collaborating with others who share the same passion for supporting this community through the work of Agrace.”
Agrace expanded its service area to include southwest Wisconsin in 2018. In late 2021, the regional office moved to its current location in Dodgeville, within the Spring Gate Mall to help bring area residents better access to high-quality end-of-life and supportive (palliative) care. The current office has plans to undergo construction this spring to make it a more permanent location for Agrace staff.
