FREEPORT - Winneshiek Players Community Theater is holding auditions for its production of "Same Time, Next Year" at 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at Winneshiek Playhouse, 228 W. Clark St.
The audition is open to actors, actresses and backstage technicians.
The play is a one-set, two-actor production. Auditions are for one male and one female lead role, both able to play an age range between 26 and 50 years old. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. In addition, backstage crew members are needed. There is a need for make-up artists, hair stylists, dressers for quick costume changes and stagehands. No previous theatrical experience is necessary.
Vicki Hooper will direct the play. The play opens on Saturday, Sept. 15 and runs Sept. 20 through 22.
"Same Time, Next Year" is a romantic comedy that ran four years on Broadway, was a successful motion picture and remains one of the most widely produced plays in history. The play follows the love affair between two people who rendezvous once a year - same time, same place - over a 25-year span. Along the way, the lovers deal with ups and downs, the comedy and drama, the births, deaths, and marital problems each is experiencing at home even as their own relationship evolves.
