Sustainability Expo planned for April 14

NEW GLARUS - The New Glarus PTO, Transition Green County and members of the Green County Leaders Class will co-host the first Green County Sustainability Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at the New Glarus Elementary School, 1420 2nd St.

The expo will highlight economic, social and environmental resources for Green County that promote individual, family and community sustainability.

Participants can learn ways to conserve energy, save money and improve skills through recycling, reducing, reusing, repurposing and reconnecting these resources.

Presentations include recycling/waste management, sustainable food practices, home energy efficiency, personal development opportunities, transportation options, personal finance, repurposed art and buying local.

There will be a collection of small electronics, ink jet cartridges and cell phones during the event for Recycle Forward, a recycling program that earns New Glarus schools cash to buy new technology.

Admission is free and open to all ages. Children's activities are available.
