Successful week for MHS Forensics Team

MONROE -On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Monroe High School Forensics team won the Badger South Conference title at the conference meet held at Baraboo High School. Twenty-one members of the Monroe High School team competed in the meet. The 2009 individual Badger Conference champions are Reuben Arnold (extemporaneous), Elizabeth Eiseman (poetry), Nicole Heinen (solo acting-humorous), Clarissa Liimatainen (four minute), Madeline Arnold (radio speaking), and Haley Sinklair (oratory). Second place finishers were Matthew Peterson (poetry), Gail LaVoie (farrago), Heidi Blanc-Blum (solo acting-serious), and Blake Antos (moments in history). Bridget Kelly (solo acting-humorous) earned third place honors. Individual finalists included Lindsey Buehler (prose), Taylor Weis (prose), Eleanor Nesimoglu (solo acting-serious), and Cassie Coffey (radio speaking). Other students contributing points to the conference championship with solid performances were Stephanie Cline, Carlee Latimer, Samantha Becherer, Patrick Gellings, Christina Mellenberger, and Rikka Nelson.

On Tuesday, the team participated in the Subdistrict Meet at Clinton High School. In addition to the previously mentioned students, the following varsity and junior varsity students participated in the meet: Hannah Hull, Kelsey Rients, Alyssa Quinn, Michael Storey, and Amy Whiteman. This meet began the three-meet trek to the State Forensics Festival for the varsity team members. All twenty-four MHS varsity entries earned qualifying scores which advances the students to the next meet. The MHS forensics varsity team members will seek to earn a trip to the State Festival at the District meet on Saturday, March 28 at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
