FREEPORT - Stephenson County Amateur Radio Emergency Service will be holding an amateur radio licensing exam session at 1 p.m. Dec. 9 in the conference room on the second floor of the Freeport Public Library.
For a beginner, the technician license is the first step to getting "on the air" with ham radio. It's also an opportunity to meet new friends, begin a new hobby or to get involved with a response team when public service or emergency opportunities arise.
Pre-registration of which license level one would like to test for is requested but not required. For more information on this session or amateur radio in general, email n9arb.ec@gmail.com or visit the Stephenson County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Facebook page.
