MONTICELLO - The Southwest Wisconsin CAP/Green Cares Food Pantry in Monticello served 76 families in December and 97 families in January 2010. The food pantry received 15,966.72 pounds of donated food in December and 1,756 pounds of donated food in January. Cash donations were used to purchase food locally or from Second Harvest Food Bank.
Current pantry needs are toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent, jams/jellies, peanut butter, canned fruit, pudding, mashed potatoes, rice and cereal.
The pantry is staffed by volunteers and over seen by Michelle Friedrich, The Emergency Food Assistance Program coordinator at SW CAP. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Any one interested in volunteering may call Green Cares at (608) 938-4238.
