NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus Middle School 5-6 and 7-8 Math Teams recently competed at the State Mega Math Team Competition at UW-Madison.

On May 23, the 5-6 Math Team, which consisting of four 5th graders and four 6th graders, earned a berth at the Mega Math Meet after placing second at the regional competition in April. This is the first time in several years that a fifth and sixth grade math team from New Glarus had qualified for this competition.

The 7-8 team placed third among the small school division, and in the team event when they all worked together, they received a perfect score.

“The State Mega Math Meet was an amazing experience for the kids,” Coach Kylie Inabnit said.
