MONROE - Monroe Theatre Guild (MTG) still has openings for their Summer Arts Camp, which will run from Aug. 15 to 19. The week-long day camp will offer classes and workshops in theater, music and art for ages 5 to 14, and it will end with an exhibition night, where kids will showcase their performance skills and exhibit art masterpieces created throughout the week.
The half-day junior camp, for ages 5 to 7, runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The action-packed morning gives kids a wide variety of activities in theatre, music and art, including acting, puppetry, costume fun, rhythm and movement, singing, drawing, painting and sculpture. The cost for the half-day junior camp is $90 for MTG members and $100 for non-members.
Kids ages 8 to 14 have either a half-day or full-day option. The full-day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the half-day is either 9 a.m. to noon or 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Each session consists of three classes, and participants will be able to choose which classes they take from a wide variety: performance technique, comedy, short scenes, improv, technical theatre, puppetry, painting, sculpture, and many more. The cost for the full-day camp is $170 for MTG members and $190 for non-members. The cost for the half-day camp is $90 for members and $100 for non-members. Space in the morning half-day option is very limited.
