MADISON — Jaclyn Hayes was selected to receive a Wisconsin State Telecommunications Foundation (WSTF) scholarship.
A Monroe graduate, Hayes was awarded a $1,500 scholarship. She plans to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities this fall and major in nutrition. She is one of 11 Wisconsin high school students receiving a scholarship from the WSTF scholarship program.
Hayes was not only chosen due to her exceptional academic performance, she is also an accomplished multi-sport athlete and involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. Hayes demonstrates strong leadership skills and improves the Monroe community her volunteer efforts.
The WSTF scholarship program is funded each year by local telephone companies — including TDS Telecom. The scholarships are available to high school seniors who live in the service area of these local telephone companies. WSTF volunteers review the applications and select finalists based on financial need, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and other criteria.
“TDS Telecom is proud to support students and help them achieve their higher education goals through the WSTF scholarship,” said TDS’ State Government Affairs Manager Jean Pauk.
Since 1966, the WSTF has given more than $1.5 million to help students further their education. In its 55 years, the foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 1,300 students.
The foundation is part of the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association (WSTA), which is a trade organization representing 67 companies and cooperatives in Wisconsin, including TDS.
