Kayley Paul, a fourth grader at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, was recognized Nov. 12 as she received the October Lamp of Learning Student Excellence Award. She is pictured here with fourth-grade teacher Courtney Schuetz, who said the following about her student:

“Kayley is an extremely kind and compassionate young lady. She treats all of her classmates with respect each day and offers to work with students who are struggling. Without prompting, she always is able to find the student who needs her kindness the most. She is a quiet leader, always doing what is expected of her. Kayley is also a very hard worker. She asks for help when she doesn’t understand instead of getting frustrated. She never gives up. Kayley is so deserving of this award. Our classroom is a better place because she is in it.”
