Immunization clinics planned

DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County Health Department is reminding parents to get an early start with required shots for school. There are many required Kindergarten booster immunizations and beginning this fall (fall of 2008-09) there are extra vaccines required in addition to the standard vaccine schedule. Additional vaccines include varicella (chicken pox), pneumococcal conjugate and Tdap (for Diptheria, Tetanus and Pertussis).

Lafayette County Health Department offers many opportunities to get the required shots.

The evening immunization clinic schedule:

• 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 28 and Wednesday, July 30, Lafayette County Health Department, 729 Clay St., Darlington;

• 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, and Thursday, Aug. 28, Lafayette County Health Department, 729 Clay St., Darlington.

The clinic is for all ages, no appointment needed.

Community immunization clinics are offered at various sites around the county. The August community clinic schedule:

• 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 5, Shullsburg Senior Apartments

• 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 12, Argyle EMS Bldg.

• 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, Blanchardville Senior Apts.

• 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, Benton Senior Apts.

• 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 19, Belmont Community Bldg.

• 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 26, Darlington Health Dept.

The Health Department is also open Monday through Friday.
