Harvest celebration, fundraiser set Nov. 10
Decatur Lake GC

BRODHEAD — The Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy and local conservation partners are holding a harvest celebration and fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 and again Nov 17 at the new Three Waters Reserve, formerly the front nine of the Decatur Lake Golf Course, 3941 Golf Course Road, Brodhead.

Sunflowers have been harvested and are now in 30 pound bags ready for purchase from SWLC and partnering organizations for birdfeeders and gifts. Sunflower oil will also be pressed and bottled for sale after Thanksgiving, and orders can be placed at the harvest celebration.

Non-profit organizations participating with SWLC in the fundraiser and sale include the Pearl Island Recreational Corridor Committee, Decatur Lake Mill Race Association, Green-Rock Audubon Society and the Prairie Enthusiasts. Other partners include Ten Eyck Orchard and the Riemer Family Farm, who will sell direct. Seed and oil will also be for sale in local participating businesses who display a sunflower poster.

SWLC will share 25 percent of each sale with partnering organizations to help fund local conservation projects. SWLC will use all remaining funds for restoration of Reserve lands.

To order seed directly, contact SWLC, Steve Apfelbaum 608-897-8641 or steve@appliedeco.com, or contact any of the participating partners or businesses.
