MONROE — Green County 4-H would not be possible without the support and involvement of youth leaders, adult volunteers, and supporters who work tirelessly to create a place for all youth to belong and succeed. This summer, 4-H gave out several awards to individuals and groups for their outstanding support of the Green County 4-H Program.
The 4-H Volunteer of the Year and 4-H Lifetime Volunteer awards were presented to individual and groups that stood out as outstanding supporters of the Green County 4-H Program. The 2024 4-H Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Dawn and Chris Smith of Monticello, who are both very active leaders in the Washington Center 4-H Club and at the county level. The 4-H Lifetime Volunteer Award was presented to Jeff and Christine Stauffacher of Monroe, who have had a positive impact on many youth here in Green County and across the country through their leadership of the Green County 4-H Interstate Exchange program for many years.
The 4-H Key Award is the highest award a 4-H member can receive in Wisconsin 4-H. It is awarded to youth who have shown consistent growth in their 4-H program, developed leadership ability, and been helpful to other members in their club and community. Sponsor of the Wisconsin 4-H Key Award program is the Wisconsin Farm Bureau. The Key Award recipients this year were Abbigail Andrews (Next Generation), Alana Durtschi (Jolly Mixers), and Morgan Waski (Cheese Country Clovers).
The Green County 4-H program feels fortunate to be in the position to support the ongoing learning and growth of its members, as they proceed into post-secondary education. The 4-H Adult Leaders Scholarship ($250 each) recognizes youth’s engagement and achievements in the 4-H program. This year’s recipients were Abbigail Andrews (Next Generation), Skye Dickson (Browntown Busy Beavers), and Morgan Waski (Cheese Country Clovers). The Cindi Miller Memorial Scholarship ($1,000 each) was established by Cindi’s family to continue sharing her love for 4-H, and her deep commitment to community involvement and recognizing this in youth. This year’s recipients were Alana Durtschi (Jolly Mixers) and Megan Leitner (Clarno).
In addition to the awards and scholarships, Green County 4-H also wishes to recognize its 4-H graduates who continued their 4-H involvement through high school graduation.
