MONROE - Maurices at West Eighth Street will host a Rescues and Runways fashion show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Maurices.
"This is a fun way to bring attention to a very serious issue in our community," said Store Manager Samantha Risseeuw. "The tough economy is forcing some families to surrender their pets to animal shelters, while at the same time leading to decreased financial support for shelters. It's a 'perfect storm,' and pets are feeling the brunt of it."
The Rescues and Runways fashion show will feature models walking the runway with the latest fall looks from Maurices, along with a pet that is available for adoption.
Maurices is partnering with the Green County Humane Society to bring in pets to showcase that are available for adoption and to answer questions people have about adoption or volunteering at the shelter.
