ALBANY - The Albany Community Center's second annual chili cook-off was held Saturday, Oct. 6 during Albany's annual Fall Fest. This year, the event had eight contestants enter their chili and decorate their area, with more than 100 taste testers voting on each chili. Shannon Sheflin, of Gabriella's Italian Restaurant, and Stephanie Steinfeldt, of Steinfeldt Apiaries, made up the judges panel. Don Collins, Kyle Hulbert and Tom Short were all awarded prize money based on votes from the judges and the public.

The first annual Trunk or Treat was Sunday, Oct. 28. There were 20 decorated vehicles that handed out treats to kids in costume. Some of the decorated vehicles included a "Witches Ball," construction zone, gypsy fortune tellers, a family of vampires, Hawaiian tiki hut, a zoo, a duck pond and a few tent campers. Gabriella's Italian Restaurant provided a lasagna meal for the night.
