Black Hawk to host fun run/walk during homecoming

SOUTH WAYNE - The School District of Black Hawk will host its first ever homecoming 5k fun run/walk as part of its events at 7 a.m. Oct. 10 at Black Hawk schools.

The entry fee is $25. Proceeds from the event will go toward helping support healthy lifestyle changes for students, school and community members through various wellness committee projects.

Registration is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at gym door 13 and from 6:15 to 6:45 a.m. Oct. 10 at commons door one.

An FFA breakfast will also be held from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at the school. Menu items include pancakes, sausage, bacon, apple sauce, yogurt, milk, coffee and cinnamon rolls.

Other homecoming events include a pep rally at 8 p.m. with fireworks to follow on Oct. 9. On Oct. 10, there will be a car show at 9 a.m., a parade at 11 a.m., a food stand at the South Wayne fire station from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a football game against Potosi at 2 p.m.
