MONROE — The Behring Senior Center has numerous activities and classes planned. Arrangements to participate can be made by calling the senior center at 325-3173 or by stopping at the center reception desk. Participants must preregister for all programs, including free ones; that way staff will know how many will be attending so that they can order supplies or food. All classes and activities are for people 55 and older.

Events

●  Breakfast for all veterans and spouses ages 55 and over will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Do not come before 8 a.m. There will be a Quilt of Valor presentation. Stan Granberg, Terry Haines, Russel Pinnow, John Rabotski, Robert Rufer and Robert Schuetz will be receiving their quilts. The next veterans breakfast will be Jan. 8.

●  Jessica Michna presents “Nurse Eleanor Maher,” a World War I nurse, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11. There is a limit of 70 people.

●  Grief 101, presented by Agrace, will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12. There is a limit of 30 people.

●  Christmas present bingo will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13.

●  Chair massage by Melissa Kieler will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 16, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 2 and April 6. Sessions are 20 minutes and you will need an appointment. There is a fee that you will give Melissa. 

●  The December movie, “Elf,” will be shown at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

●  The card game Flippo will played from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 20.

●  A mindful meditation workshop with Susan Andersen from the Great Plains Zen Center will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays in January, starting the Jan. 8.

●  Birddog and Henry Blues Band will perform at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14. There is a limit of 85 people.
