Award recipients recognized at Founder's Day

MONTICELLO - The Green County Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association held its annual Founder's Day Tuesday, May 7 at The Dining Room.

The 2013 scholarship recipients were recognized. Recipients included are Emily Diaz, Belleville; Steven Christiansen, Austin Coplien, and Elicia Frie, all of Monroe; and Cassandra Feller, New Glarus. Over the years, the Green County Chapter has given 328 scholarships to outstanding seniors in Green County who attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Green County Chapter is organizing its second annual Red Run 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run on Monday, June 17. All proceeds from this event go towards the scholarship fund.

Both events begin at the Twining Park North Shelter House with the Kids Fun Run starting at 4:45 p.m., and the 5K Run/Walk at 5:30 p.m. Bucky Badger and members of the UW Marching Band and Spirit Squad will be making an appearance from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

Participants are able to register online or in person the day of the race. Participants can also attend the Monroe Badger Days Luau following the race at a special half-price rate, but those who attend must pre-register.
