YMCA gets grant for CPR training

MONROE - The Green County Family YMCA, Inc. recently announced that it has received a grant from the Dr. Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund of the Monroe Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc. to support CPR/AED training.

The YMCA Aquatic Department will now permanently house CPR mannequins and an AED training device for lifeguards to practice their resuscitation skills on an ongoing basis. Lifeguards will be tested every seven weeks on their skills.

"To safeguard our diverse group of patrons, lifeguards must be ready for an immediate emergency response," officials said in a release. "Repeated and frequent CPR/AED training is crucial to emergency preparedness. Since lifeguards rarely experience medical emergencies, frequent CPR and AED practice is even more crucial to perform rescue attempts correctly."
