ALBANY - The Albany Historical Society meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the museum, 119 N. Water St.

The program, presented by Ed Maksym, will feature a presentation on the history of sports car road racing in Wisconsin. The program will start with the street races on county roads around Elkhart Lake and will show the development of Road America and the development of road racing cars from street vehicles through special purpose built racing cars such the Indianapolis cars of CART racing and the high-powered open design of the CAN-Am series. Pictures of the infield road course at Milwaukee State Fair Park will be included in the presentation.

The pictures come from Maksym's personal collection and from a friend of his who attended the early Elkhart street races. Slides will show the development of the cars over the years.

The program follows a short business meeting. The meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
