Last week, I lost my terrier dog. When I came home from work, the kennel gate had been left open by accident. My two Border Collies were laying in the yard, but my 17-year-old terrier was gone. He would never run away, he follows my collies, and I'm sure he could not keep up and got lost.
Someone turned him into the Green County Humane Society. I will be forever grateful to that person. I was so happy that I got him back safe.
My question is, he had tags on. One stated he belonged to me and had my phone number and address. Another stated he was up-to-date on his rabies shots. These tags were on separate rings and the tags were gone. The rings were still on him. I just wonder who took off his tags?
The Humane Society told me he probably lost them. Hard to believe, he has had on tags for years and never lost them. Why are some dogs returned to their owners and others taken to the Humane Society? I had to pay a $50 fee to get him out. Is this why his tags were missing?
I am just thankful I got him back, and will make sure the gate is closed at all times from now on. Guess there is no reason to replace his tag stating he belongs to me, because people just will remove it anyway.
