From Jeff Wright
Candidate, 51st Assembly District
To the editor:
Repeating a lie doesn’t make it true, even if you have millions of dollars to spread it. For the second straight election, dark money special interest groups are repeating a lie saying I’d keep two-full time jobs with two full-time salaries if I get the honor of being elected. The truth is that my school district would not allow me to serve in the legislature and remain in my current full-time position.
Many legislators hold part-time positions to have direct exposure to the workplace. This includes farmers, small business owners, nurses, and more. I want to serve in a limited role in a school district. There would be great value being a legislator with a foot in the capitol and a foot in the classroom. We don’t want legislators to make Madison their full-time life.
So why are these dark money special interest groups spending so much money to attack me?
Because they know that I oppose raising property taxes to fund private voucher schools. They know I’d make public education a priority every year, not just election years. They know that I will maintain pre-existing condition coverage for all Wisconsinites. They know I won’t mortgage our future by giving away over $4 billion to a foreign corporation.
So next time you hear one of these ads, ask yourself who is paying for it and why.
I am proud to be running to represent the 51st District. I believe in the future of rural Wisconsin and know today’s decisions will determine the strength of our economy, roads, and communities tomorrow. If given the honor of serving, it has always been my plan to step away from my current full-time position to do the important work our assembly district needs. I am ready to work for you.
