To the Editor:
In the September 30, 2023 edition of the Monroe Times on the school operating budget it stated that: “This (budget) then goes to the annual meeting of the electorate, and then the board sets the final numbers at the end of October when we know all the final numbers from the state,” said Business Administrator Ron Olson.” This electorate meeting takes place on October 16, 2023.
This means that the vote taken on October 16 is on a budget estimate only which will be changed by the school board when the state sets the millage rate. How can we vote on a budget when we don’t know how much money will be available to spend?
