To the Editor:
Thank you so much for keeping our community up-to-date on former Monroe High School foreign exchange student Anastasia Yacoub and her experiences of living in occupied Palestine.
Lately I’ve been haunted by the media generalizations made to depict a violent Islamic religion: my Muslim friends and family are a peace-loving people BECAUSE of their faith. As all people, they are deserving to live a life free of fear.
It is a silver lining in this very dark cloud that a small Wisconsin community can recognize a familiar face in a sea of foreign tragedy and experience empathy.
With eyes towards the peaceable kingdom.
