Ready to Raise Our Mark

His name may as well be Clark Kent.

The mild-mannered, well-versed journalist that is about to join our newsroom is my personal Superman. Well, at least he is coming to save the day.

His name is Mark Nesbitt.

I've wrestled daily with my inability to travel through space and time. We (and over the past two months, that's we as in I) as a sports staff take a lot of pride in getting to all the outlying communities.

It's a blessing to cover the veritable powerhouse that is Monroe athletics, but there are sports stories brewing from border to border in Green and Lafayette Counties.

There's nothing worse than the inkling that the athletes that work so hard in our coverage area may feel left out when they...well, aren't covered.

Just in time for the postseason that, don't look now, is nearly upon us, Mr. Nesbitt brings not only five-tool player ability to our team. He's also a veteran of the business and looking forward to hitting the ground running. And snapping. And interviewing.

After he and I enjoy some good old Monroe eats late Thursday afternoon, he'll be a regular facet at the rest of the season's full slate of games.

There's a lot more that goes into our job that sometimes meets the eye and, now that there will be a second juggler in this act, I'm fired up about taking things to the next level, just like the local athletes will be doing.
