CAMBRIDGE - Nicole Poirier's penalty kick in the 43rd minute accounted for the only scoring in the game as Cambridge-Deerfield edged Sugar River, 1-0, in a Capitol Conference soccer match Tuesday.

The Raiders got eight shots on goal, but were turned back each time by Cambridge-Deerfield goalkeeper Jess Jaeckel.

Goalkeepers Natalie Manion and Raylynn Jelle shutout the Demons except for the second-half penalty kick.

Sugar River (6-2, 1-1 Capitol Conference) will travel to Monroe to take on the Cheesemakers Thursday.
