MOUNT HOREB - The Sugar River girls soccer team, ranked No. 8 in the Division 3 Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll, tied fourth-ranked Mount Horeb 2-2 Saturday.
It was a showdown between two of the state's top teams. Mount Horeb senior Sydney King scored on a penalty kick at 73 minutes, 41 seconds to tie the game.
Sugar River freshman Kirstin Krantz scored a goal at 27:26 to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead in the first half. Mount Horeb came back to tie the game at 1 at the half.
Sugar River junior Sydney Gentilli scored a go-ahead goal at 49:10 to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead. The shots on goal were just about even, with the Vikings posting 16 and the Raiders finishing with 15.
Sugar River junior goalkeeper Rachael Heittola had 13 saves. With the tie, Sugar River is now 5-0-1 overall.
The Raiders host Columbus in a game today that was rescheduled due to a postponement earlier this year.
