NG-M boys run to second

COLUMBUS - The New Glarus-Monticello boys cross country team finished second place in the Capitol South Conference meet Saturday.

The Knights were led by senior John Zuber, who finished fourth place with a time of 17 minutes, 33 seconds. Sophomore teammate Kyle Fredrickson took eighth (17:56) and junior Max Cruse was 11th (18:11).

Deerfield-Cambridge edged the Knights 40-50 for the conference championship.

Dylan Beckwith finished 12th (18:13) and sophomore Christian Arnett was 15th (18:23).

In the girls' race, New Glarus-Monticello took third place (69 points). Deerfield-Cambridge got the sweep also winning the girls conference title 40-66 over Wisconsin Heights.

New Glarus-Monticello senior Bri Roska finished second place (20:54) and junior Ashley Risley was ninth (21:28.34).

Sophomore teammate Kelly Fredrickson took 18th (22:18.64) and senior Lilly Blum was 19th (22:26.34). Senior Sam Barr finished 21st (22:30.14) to round out the top five for the Knights.

New Glarus-Monticello will run in the WIAA Division 2 Platteville sectional Saturday.
