BELLEVILLE - Six days after hitting a game-winning shot, New Glarus junior Gavin Binger scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Glarner Knights to a 60-41 win over Belleville in a Highway 69 rivalry game Thursday.

New Glarus (9-11, 5-4 Capitol South) jumped out to a 20-11 lead in the first quarter and built a 15-point lead by the half. With the win, New Glarus moves into a second-place tie in the conference with Cambridge.

Belleville's Ryan Hayes and Brock Kelly each scored a team-high 16 points. With the loss, Belleville drops to 4-16, 3-7 Capitol South.

"We weren't able to pull the game under double digits in the second half," Belleville assistant coach Willy Johnson said. "They handled the pressure pretty well down the stretch and were able to spread us out and attack when they needed to."

New Glarus made seven 3-pointers as a team. New Glarus senior Colton Boley added nine points and hit two 3-pointers. Senior teammate Tanner Hofer chipped in seven points and Andrew Molencamp made two 3-pointers.
