REEDSBURG - None of the four area golfers from Green and Lafayette counties who played in the Wisconsin State Amateur Championship qualifier tournament Thursday at Reedsburg Country Club will advance to the championship.
Middleton's Emmet Herb of Blackhawk Country Club in Madison shot a 5-under-par 67 to win the tournament. The top 12 golfers qualified for the Wisconsin State Amateur Championships to be played July 18-21 at the North Shore Golf Club in Menasha.
Brandon Wilson, a Monroe High School graduate, finished tied for 20th at 3-over-par 75 and missed making the championships by two shots. Wilson posted birdies on Nos. 3, 5 and 16.
Monroe High School senior Nick Baumann shot a 4-over-par 76 to finish in a five-way tie for 23rd and three shots away from making the cut for the championships. Baumann birdied Nos. 5 and 8.
Charlie Baumann, Nick's father, shot a 10-over 82 to tie for 53rd place. Argyle's Travis Erickson carded a 17-over 89 to place 61st.
