MONROE - The road map for high school girls basketball teams to make a state run to the Resch Center in Green Bay is set.

The Monroe girls basketball team found out its destination for the regional when the WIAA released the tournament seeds and pairings Sunday. Monroe (8-13) received a No. 5 seed and will play a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal game at No. 4 seed Mount Horeb at 7 p.m. Feb. 24. It will mark the third straight year the Cheesemakers have played Mount Horeb in the regional. Two years ago, Monroe defeated Mount Horeb. Last year, the Vikings beat the Cheesemakers 42-26. The top three teams in the Badger South Conference are all in Monroe's regional.

"It played out the way I thought it would," Monroe coach Sam Mathiason said. "Madison Edgewood got the No. 1 seed, Oregon got the No. 2 and Stoughton got the No. 3 seed."

Mount Horeb has a core of five seniors they rely on. The Vikings earned the No. 4 seed and home game by defeating Milton, a team that beat Monroe twice and getting a split in two conference games against Reedsburg.

"They (Mount Horeb) have a lot of experience," Mathiason said. "It will be a challenge for us."
