CLINTON — The Monroe Cheesemaker boys and girls track teams won the Rock Valley Conference meet at Clinton on Friday, May 15. The Cheesemaker boys racked up 189.5 points. Brodhead-Juda was third with 106 points. The Cheesemakers girls tallied 159 points. Brodhead-Juda was fourth with 65 points.
Junior Grayson Arn of Brodhead-Juda was first in the 100 meters in 11.20 seconds. Senior Jy’Shon Broitzman of Monroe was third (11.62). Arn also placed first in the 200 (22.99), ahead of Monroe senior Noah Spotts (3rd, 23.48). Senior Mavrik Plummer of Brodhead-Juda finished in first in the 400 (49.49). Broitzman was third (50.98). Plummer got another first place finish in the 800 (1:59.64). Monroe junior Eli Phillips was third (2:03.00), sophomore Landon Smith fourth (2:03.03) and junior Lukas Gerber fifth (2:05.45).
Senior Tre Dammen of Monroe took first place in the 1,600 meters (4:36.51) and the 3,200 meters (9:54.02). Also in the 3,200, Monroe freshman Ace Rossing was second (10:10.91) and sophomore Weston Huntsman finished fourth (10:33.05).
Senior Will Keehn finished second in the 110 meter hurdles (16.44). Nolan Bump of Brodhead-Juda came in second in the 300 meter hurdles (41.17), with Will Keehn third (41.26) and Monroe senior Frank Wolf fourth (42.31).
The Cardinals took first place in the 4x100 meter relay with Nolan Bump, Grayson Arn, Cohen Henze, and Tegan Pinnow winning the relay in 43.48 seconds.
The Cheesemakers were the winners of the 4x200 meter relay (1:31.49) with Mekhi Brown, Riley Blum, Noah Spotts, and Ryan Roelli running. Monroe’s “A” team (Broitzman, Lukas Gerber, Kamrin Gerber-Reamer, and Eli Phillips) won the 4x400 meter relay (3:24.56).
Brodhead-Juda’s “A” team (Simon Moore, Bump, Plummer, and Jorge Villalva) took second place (3:31.44).
Monroe’s “A” team (Elijah Cook, Smith, Huntsman, and Rossing) were second in the 4x800 (8:26.97), while the Cardinals team of Malachi Shank, Ashton Henze, Treyton Leutenegger, and Jameson Lenthe was third (9:12.53).
In the shot put, senior Waylon Yoder of Monroe was second at 48 feet, 2 inches. Joah Wellman was third (47-2). Yoder also took first place in the discus (170-8), and sophomore Tristan Anderson placed third (139-1).
Tegan Pinnow of Brodhead-Juda was third in the high jump (5-8). Brodhead-Juda’s Simon Moore was the winner of the pole (13-6). Pinnow was fourth in the long jump (19-9). Eli Phillips of Monroe was fifth (19-7.75).
Monroe’s Wolf was second in the triple jump (41-6.25).
In the girls events, Brodhead-Juda freshman Gracie Hefty was fifth in the 100 (13.52). Monroe senior Mya Wild was fifth in the 200 (28.23). Monroe senior Miley Hanson placed fifth in the 400 (1:02.30).
In the 800 meters, Monroe sophomore Alivia Mosher took fourth place (2:23.88). Monroe sophomore Victoria Wolf won the 1,600 (5:29.61) ahead teammates Nevaeh Huenefeld (5:34.08, 2nd) and Kaylen Cassidy (5:48.12, 4th). Victoria Wolf also placed second in the 3,200 meters (11:58.80) while Cassidy was third (12:35.54). Monroe freshman Elizabeth Veeder of Monroe was fifth (13:07.55).
Top performances in the 100 meter hurdles included Brodhead-Juda junior Elliana Shank (16.34, 2nd), Monroe senior Brooke Bunker (17.70, 3rd) and junior Chesney Walker of Brodhead-Juda fifth (18.35 seconds). Monroe freshman Ella Mortimer was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (52.55) and Bunker was fifth (53.18).
Brodhead-Juda’s “A” team (Shank, Hefty, Macy Gretebeck, and Ella Olson) placed second in the 4x100 relay (51.73). The Cardinals’ “A” team (Kennedi Lerch, Walker, Taiya Hawkins, and Abby Withrow) placed third in the 4x200 (1:54.63).
The Monroe “A” team (Lyla Ritschard, Mya Wild, Alivia Mosher, and Maryella Green) came in third in the (4:22.77).
The Cheesemakers’ 4x800 “A” team (Veeder, Ritschard, Mosher, and Aniyah Jackson-Bey) took first place (10:58.20).
The field events saw Monroe freshman Micki Andrews take third in the shot put (33-7) and teammate Hailey Rasmussen fourth (32-10). Brodhead-Juda senior Annelise Bethke placed fourth in the discus (97-11).
Monroe’s Miley Hanson won the high jump (4-10). Monroe senior Anna Zentner was third in the pole vault (9-0).
Brodhead-Juda’s Elliana Shank won the long jump (17-8). In the triple jump, Miley Hanson was first (32-11.75). Junior Braylee Friedrich was second (33-1).
