DEERFIELD - Junior Ciara Kaderly won a title in the 3,200-meter run and took second in the 1,600 to help the Albany High School girls track and field team win a WIAA Division 3 regional championship.

She finished the 3,200 in 12 minutes, 23.91 seconds and the 1,600 in 5:28.85.

Albany clipped Parkview for the team title by a half point, 134.5-134. Monticello took seventh (46) in the nine-team meet.

Albany sophomore Emma Guenther took second in the 3,200 (12:28.46).

Albany senior Marley Malkow took second in the shot put (31 feet, 6 inches). The Comets' 3,200 relay team of freshman Sydney Bloedel, senior Sydnee Woyak, freshman Kirsten Oliver and Kaderly took second (10:48.24). Woyak added a second in the pole vault (8-3).

Monticello freshman Alyssen Noriega finished second in the 100 (13.36) and second in the 200 (27.89). Noriega teamed with senior Emilie Gietzel, junior Marissa Peterson and sophomore Calissa Briggs to take second in the 800 relay (1:57.75).

Bloedel added a second-place finish in the 400 (1:07.49) for the Comets.

The Albany boys team had the top two finishers in the 1,600. Albany junior Isaac Halverson won in 4:44.73 and senior Josh Little took second (4:50.22).

Parkview ran away with the boys regional title 141-119 over Deerfield. Albany took third (102) in the nine-team regional and Monticello was last (28).

Albany freshman Evan Blumer was a regional champion in the discus (140-4).

The Comets' 1,600 relay team of junior Hunter Georgeson, Halverson, Little and sophomore Garrett Hlavachek won the race with a time of 3:41.90.

Little and Halverson teamed with sophomore Logun Parker and Hlavachek to win a regional title in the 3,200 relay (9:03.96). Parker took second in the pole vault (8-0). Monticello's Bryss Stover took second in the shot put (40-0).
